ܒܫܢܬ ܬܪ̈ܬܥܣܪܐ ܠܐܚܙ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܐܡܠܟ ܗܘܫܥ ܒܪ ܐܠܐ ܥܠ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܒܫܡܪܝܢ ܬܫܥ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ

In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah began to reign in Samaria over Israel for nine years.

ܘܥܒܕ ܕܒܝܫ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܪܡ ܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܗܘܘ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ
qdmwhy dhww d'ysryl mlk' 'yk l' brm mry' qdm dbysh webd
He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, yet not as the kings of Israel who were before him.

ܥܠܘܗܝ ܣܠܩ ܫܠܡܢܥܣܪ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܘܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܗܘܫܥ ܥܒܕܐ ܘܐܝܬܝ ܠܗ ܩܘܪ̈ܒܢܐ

Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against him; and Hoshea became his servant, and brought him tribute.

ܘܐܫܟܚ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܒܗܘܫܥ ܡܪܕܐ ܘܫܕܪ ܐ̈ܝܙܓܕܐ ܠܘܬ ܣܐܘ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܣܩ ܩܘܪ̈ܒܢܐ ܠܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܐܝܟ ܕܒܟܠ ܫܢܐ ܘܟܠܝܗܝ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܘܐܣܪܗ ܒܝܬ ܐܣܝܪ̈ܐ

The king of Assyria discovered a conspiracy in Hoshea; for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year. Therefore the king of Assyria seized him, and bound him in prison.

ܘܣܠܩ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܥܠ ܟܠܗ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܣܠܩ ܠܫܡܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܫܪܐ ܥܠܝܗ ܬܠܬ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ

Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.

ܘܒܫܢܬܐ ܬܫܝܥܝܬܐ ܠܗܘܫܥ ܟܒܫ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܠܫܡܪܝܢ ܘܓܠܝ ܠܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܐܬܘܪ ܘܐܘܬܒ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܚܠܚ ܘܒܚܒܪ ܢܗܪ ܓܘܙܢ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܡܕܝ

In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܚܛܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗܘܢ ܕܐܦܩ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܡܢ ܬܚܝܬ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܦܪܥܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܘܕܚܠܘ ܠܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܐܚܪ̈ܢܐ

It was so because the children of Israel had sinned against Yahweh their God, who brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

ܘܗܠܟܘ ܒܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܐܘܒܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'ysryl bny qdm mn mry' d'wbd demm' bnmws' whlkw
and walked in the statutes of the nations whom Yahweh cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they made.

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡ̈ܠܐ ܕܠܐ ܫܦܝܪ̈ܢ ܥܠ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗܘܢ ܗܢܘܢ ܘܡ̈ܠܟܝܗܘܢ ܘܒܢܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܥ̈ܠܘܬܐ ܒܟܠ ܩܘܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܡܓܕܠ ܢܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܩܪܝܬܐ ܥܫܝܢܬܐ

The children of Israel secretly did things that were not right against Yahweh their God; and they built high places for themselves in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city;

ܘܐܩܝܡܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܩܝܡ̈ܬܐ ܘܕܚ̈ܠܬܐ ܥܠ ܟܠ ܪܡܬܐ ܕܪܡܐ ܘܬܚܝܬ ܟܘܠ ܐܝܠܢ ܕܥܒܝܛ

and they set up for themselves pillars and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree;

ܘܣܡܘ ܬܡܢ ܒܣ̈ܡܐ ܥܠ ܥ̈ܠܘܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܐܘܒܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܗܘܢ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܕܒܝܫ̈ܝܢ ܠܡܪܓܙܘ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' qdm lmrgzw dbyshyn pthgm' webdw qdmyhwn mn mry' d'wbd emm' 'yk elwth' el bsm' thmn wsmw
and there they burned incense in all the high places, as the nations whom Yahweh carried away before them did; and they did wicked things to provoke Yahweh to anger;

ܘܦܠܚܘ ܠܕܚ̈ܠܬܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܐ ܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܦܬܓܡܐ ܗܢܐ
hn' pthgm' thebdwn l' mry' lhwn d'mr ldkhlth' wplkhw
and they served idols, of which Yahweh had said to them, “You shall not do this thing.”

ܘܐܣܗܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܒܝܗܘܕܐ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܘܟܠ ܚ̈ܙܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܬܘܒܘ ܡܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܟܘܢ ܒܝܫ̈ܬܐ ܘܛܪܘ ܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܝ ܘܩܝ̈ܡܝ ܐܝܟ ܢܡ̈ܘܣܐ ܕܦܩܕܬ ܠܐ̈ܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܝܟ ܕܫܠܚܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܥܒ̈ܕܝ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ

Yet Yahweh testified to Israel and to Judah, by every prophet and every seer, saying, “Turn from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets.”

ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܘ ܘܩܫܝܘ ܩܕܠܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܠܐ ܕܐ̈ܒܗܝܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܗܝܡܢܘ ܒܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗܘܢ
'lhhwn bmry' hymnw wl' d'bhyhwn qdl' mn qdlhwn wqshyw shmew wl'
Notwithstanding, they would not listen, but hardened their neck like the neck of their fathers who didn’t believe in Yahweh their God.

ܘܐܣܠܝܘ ܩܝ̈ܡܝ ܘܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܝ ܕܦܩܕܬ ܠܐ̈ܒܗܝܗܘܢ ܘܣ̈ܗܕܘܬܐ ܕܐܣܗܕܬ ܒܗܘܢ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܒܬܪ ܠܐ ܡܕܡ ܘܡܕܡ ܠܐ ܐܝܬܪܘ ܐܠܐ ܐܙܠܘ ܒܬܪ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܦܩܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܐܟܘܬܗܘܢ
'kwthhwn thebdwn dl' mry' 'nwn dpqd emm' bthr 'zlw 'l' 'ythrw l' wmdm mdm l' bthr w'zlw bhwn d'shdth wshdwth' l'bhyhwn dpqdth wpwqdny qymy w'slyw
They rejected his statutes and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified to them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom Yahweh had commanded them that they should not do like them.

ܘܫܒܩܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗܘܢ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܣܝ̈ܟܐ ܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܥ̈ܓܠܐ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܕܒܚ̈ܐ ܠܕܚ̈ܠܬܐ ܘܣܓܕܘ ܠܟܠ ܚܝ̈ܠܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܘܦܠܚܘ ܠܒܥܠܐ
lbel' wplkhw dshmy' khyl' lkl wsgdw ldkhlth' dbkh' webdw egl' thryn nsyk' lhwn webdw 'lhhwn dmry' pwqdnwhy klhwn wshbqw
They abandoned all the commandments of Yahweh their God, and made molten images for themselves, even two calves, and made an Asherah, and worshiped all the army of the sky, and served Baal.

ܘܐܥܒܪܘ ܒܢܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܘܒܢ̈ܬܗܘܢ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܘܩܨܡܘ ܩܨ̈ܡܐ ܘܢܚܫܘ ܘܐܬܚܫܒܘ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܟܠ ܕܒܝܫ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܪܓܙܘܬܗ
lmrgzwthh mry' qdm dbysh kl lmebd w'thkhshbw wnkhshw qtsm' wqtsmw bnwr' wbnthhwn bnyhwn w'ebrw
They caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, to provoke him to anger.

ܘܪܓܙ ܡܪܝܐ ܛܒ ܥܠ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܥܒܪ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܐܫܬܚܪ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܫܒܛܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ
blkhwd dyhwd' shbT' 'n 'l' 'shthkhr wl' qdmwhy mn 'nwn w'ebr 'ysryl el Tb mry' wrgz
Therefore Yahweh was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight. There was none left but the tribe of Judah only.

ܘܐܦ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܠܐ ܢܛܪܘ ܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗܘܢ ܘܗܠܟܘ ܒܢܡܘܣܗ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܥܒܕܘ ܕܒܝܫ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܪܓܙܘܗܝ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ
ywmth' klhwn w'rgzwhy mry' qdm dbysh debdw d'ysryl bnmwsh whlkw 'lhhwn dmry' pwqdnwhy nTrw l' yhwd' bny w'p
Also Judah didn’t keep the commandments of Yahweh their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.

ܘܐܣܠܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܟܠܗ ܙܪܥܗ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܨܥܪ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܫܠܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܒ̈ܙܘܙܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܫܕܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ
'pwhy qdm mn 'nwn dshd' edm' dbzwz' b'yd' 'nwn w'shlm 'nwn wtser d'ysryl zreh lklh mry' w'sly
Yahweh rejected all the offspring of Israel, afflicted them, and delivered them into the hands of raiders, until he had cast them out of his sight.

ܡܛܠ ܕܦܪܩܘ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܘܝܕ ܘܐܡܠܟܘ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܠܝܘܪܒܥܡ ܒܪ ܢܒܛ ܘܐܛܥܝ ܝܘܪܒܥܡ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܚܛܝ ܐܢܘܢ ܚ̈ܛܗܐ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܐ

For he tore Israel from David’s house; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king; and Jeroboam drove Israel from following Yahweh, and made them sin a great sin.

ܘܗܠܟܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܒܟܠܗܘܢ ܚ̈ܛܗܘܗܝ ܕܝܘܪܒܥܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܘܠܐ ܣܛܘ ܡܢܗܘܢ

The children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they didn’t depart from them

ܥܕܡܐ ܕܐܥܒܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܟܠܗܘܢ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܘܓܠܝ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܗܘܢ ܠܐܬܘܪ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ
lywmn' edm' l'thwr 'rehwn mn 'ysryl lbny 'nwn wgly nby' dklhwn b'yd' mry' d'mr 'yk qdmwhy mn l'ysryl mry' d'ebr edm'
until Yahweh removed Israel out of his sight, as he said by all his servants the prophets. So Israel was carried away out of their own land to Assyria to this day.

ܘܐܝܬܝ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܡܢ ܒܒܠ ܘܡܢ ܟܘܬ ܘܡܢ ܥܘܐ ܘܡܢ ܚܡܬ ܘܡܢ ܣܦܪܘܝܡ ܘܐܘܬܒ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܫܡܪ̈ܝܢ ܚܠܦ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܝܪܬܘ ܠܫܡܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܝܬܒܘ ܒܩܘܪ̈ܝܗ
bqwryh wythbw lshmryn w'yrthw 'ysryl bny khlp dshmryn bqwry' 'nwn w'wthb sprwym wmn khmth wmn ew' wmn kwth wmn bbl mn d'thwr mlk' w'ythy
The king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, from Cuthah, from Avva, and from Hamath and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they possessed Samaria and lived in its cities.

ܘܡܢ ܪܫܝܬܐ ܟܕ ܝܬܒܘ ܬܡܢ ܠܐ ܕܚܠܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܫܕܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܐܪ̈ܝܘܬܐ ܘܗܘܘ ܡܩܛܠܝܢ ܒܗܘܢ
bhwn mqTlyn whww 'rywth' elyhwn mry' wshdr lmry' dkhlw l' thmn ythbw kd rshyth' wmn
So it was, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they didn’t fear Yahweh. Therefore Yahweh sent lions among them, which killed some of them.

ܘܚܘܝܘ ܠܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܓܠܝܬ ܘܐܘܬܒܬ ܒܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܕܫܡܪ̈ܝܢ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܕܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܗ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܘܫܕܪ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܐܪ̈ܝܘܬܐ ܘܗܐ ܡܩܛܠܝܢ ܒܗܘܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܕܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܗ ܕܐܪܥܐ
d're' d'lhh dyn' ydeyn dl' mTl bhwn mqTlyn wh' 'rywth' elyhwn wshdr d're' d'lhh dyn' ydeyn l' dshmryn bqwry' w'wthbth dglyth emm' lh w'mrw d'thwr lmlk' wkhwyw
Therefore they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, “The nations which you have carried away and placed in the cities of Samaria don’t know the law of the god of the land. Therefore he has sent lions among them; and behold, they kill them, because they don’t know the law of the god of the land.”

ܘܦܩܕ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܬܘܪ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܘܒܠܘ ܠܬܡܢ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܕܓܠܝܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܘܢܐܙܠ ܘܢܬܒ ܬܡܢ ܘܢܠܦ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܗ ܕܐܪܥܐ
d're' d'lhh dyn' 'nwn wnlp thmn wnthb wn'zl thmn mn dglythwn khn' mn khd lthmn 'wblw w'mr d'thwr mlk' wpqd
Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, “Carry there one of the priests whom you brought from there; and let him go and dwell there, and let him teach them the law of the god of the land.”

ܘܐܬܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܕܓܠܝ ܡܢ ܫܡܪ̈ܝܢ ܘܝܬܒ ܒܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܘܗܘܐ ܡܠܦ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܢܕܚܠܘܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ
lmry' ndkhlwn 'ykn' lhwn mlp whw' 'yl bbyth wythb shmryn mn dgly khn' mn khd w'th'
So one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and lived in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear Yahweh.

ܘܗܘܘ ܦܠܚܝܢ ܥܡ ܥܡ ܐܠܗܗ ܘܫܒܩܘ ܒܬ̈ܐ ܕܥ̈ܠܘܬܐ ܕܥܒܕܘ ܒܫܡܪܝܢ ܥܡ ܥܡ ܒܩܘܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܟܪ ܕܗܢܘܢ ܝܬܒܝܢ
ythbyn dhnwn kr bqwryhwn em em bshmryn debdw delwth' bth' wshbqw 'lhh em em plkhyn whww
However every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they lived.

ܘܐܢܫ̈ܝ ܒܒܠ ܦܠܚܝܢ ܠܣܟܘܬ ܒܢܘܬ ܘܐܢܫ̈ܝ ܟܘܬ ܦܠܚܝܢ ܠܢܪܓܠ ܘܐܢܫ̈ܝ ܚܡܬ ܦܠܚܝܢ ܠܐܫܝܡܐ
l'shym' plkhyn khmth w'nshy lnrgl plkhyn kwth w'nshy bnwth lskwth plkhyn bbl w'nshy
The men of Babylon made Succoth Benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,

ܘܥܘ̈ܝܐ ܦܠܚܝܢ ܠܝܒܙܚ ܘܠܬܪܬܩ ܘܣܦܪ̈ܘܝܐ ܡܘܩܕܝܢ ܒܢܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܒܢܘܪܐ ܠܐܪܕܡܠܟ ܘܠܥܡܠܝܩ ܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܕܣܦܪܘܝܡ

and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.

ܘܗܘܘ ܕܚܠܝܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܟܘܡܪ̈ܐ ܕܥ̈ܠܘܬܐ ܘܗܘܘ ܦܠܚܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܒܝܬ ܥ̈ܠܘܬܐ

So they feared Yahweh, and also made from among themselves priests of the high places for themselves, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.

ܠܡܪܝܐ ܕܚܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܠܐ̈ܠܗܝܗܘܢ ܦܠܚܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐܝܟ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܓܠܝܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܗܘܢ
'rehwn mn 'ysryl bny wglyw demm' nmws' 'yk hww plkhyn wl'lhyhwn hww dkhlyn lmry'
They feared Yahweh, and also served their own gods, after the ways of the nations from among whom they had been carried away.

ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ ܥܠ ܕܫܒܩܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܘܠܐ ܕܚܠܝܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܩܝܡܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܦܩܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܒܢ̈ܝ ܝܥܩܘܒ ܕܫܡܝ ܫܡܗ ܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ
'ysr'yl shmh dshmy yeqwb lbny mry' dpqd pwqdn' w'yk nmws' w'yk dyn' w'yk qym' 'yk ebdyn wl' lmry' dkhlyn wl' demm' nmws' 'yk webdyn lmry' dshbqw el lywmn' edm'
To this day they do what they did before. They don’t fear Yahweh, and they do not follow the statutes, or the ordinances, or the law, or the commandment which Yahweh commanded the children of Jacob, whom he named Israel;

ܘܐܩܝܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܩܝܡܐ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܘܦܩܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠܘܢ ܠܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܐܚܪ̈ܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܣܓܕܘܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܦܠܚܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܕܒܚܘܢ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn thdbkhwn wl' 'nwn thplkhwn wl' lhwn thsgdwn wl' 'khrn' l'lh' thdkhlwn l' w'mr 'nwn wpqd emhwn qym' mry' w'qym
with whom Yahweh had made a covenant and commanded them, saying, “You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them;

ܐܠܐ ܦܠܘܚܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܕܐܣܩܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܨܪܝܢ ܒܚܝܠܐ ܪܒܐ ܘܒܕܪܥܐ ܪܡܐ ܠܗ ܦܠܘܚܘ ܘܠܗ ܣܓܘܕܘ ܘܠܗ ܕܒܚܘ
dbkhw wlh sgwdw wlh plwkhw lh rm' wbdre' rb' bkhyl' dmtsryn 're' mn d'sqkwn lmry' plwkhw 'l'
but you shall fear Yahweh, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, and you shall bow yourselves to him, and you shall sacrifice to him.

ܘܩܝ̈ܡܐ ܘܕܝ̈ܢܐ ܘܢܡܘܣ̈ܐ ܘܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܐ ܕܟܬܒ ܠܟܘܢ ܛܪܘ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠܘܢ ܠܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܐܚܪ̈ܢܐ
'khrn' l'lh' thdkhlwn l' ywmth' klhwn webdw Trw lkwn dkthb wpwqdn' wnmws' wdyn' wqym'
The statutes and the ordinances, and the law and the commandment which he wrote for you, you shall observe to do forever more. You shall not fear other gods.

ܘܩܝ̈ܡܐ ܕܐܩܝܡܬ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܠܐ ܬܛܥܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܕܚܠܘܢ ܠܐ̈ܠܗܐ ܕܥܡ̈ܡܐ
demm' l'lh' thdkhlwn wl' thTewn l' emkwn d'qymth wqym'
You shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you. You shall not fear other gods.

ܐܠܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܟܘܢ ܕܚܠܘ ܘܗܘ ܡܦܨܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܟܠܗܘܢ ܒ̈ܥܠܕܒܒܝܟܘܢ
beldbbykwn dklhwn 'yd' mn lkwn mpts' whw dkhlw 'lhkwn lmry' 'l'
But you shall fear Yahweh your God, and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies.”

ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܘ ܐܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܢܡܘܣܗܘܢ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܗܘܘ
hww ebdyn qdmy' nmwshwn 'yk 'l' shmew wl'
However they didn’t listen, but they did what they did before.

ܘܗܘܘ ܐܦ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܝܬܒܘ ܒܫܡܪܝܢ ܕܚܠܝܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܓܠܝܦܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܦܠܚܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐܦ ܒ̈ܢܝܗܘܢ ܐܦ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܒܢܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܘܐܝܟ ܕܥܒܕܘ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܗܘܢ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐܦ ܗܢܘܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ

So these nations feared Yahweh, and also served their engraved images. Their children did likewise, and so did their children’s children. They do as their fathers did to this day.
